NATIONAL CASK ALE WEEK 2010
Celebrate Britain’s national drink: March 29 to April 5.

2009 saw the major brewers, Cask Marque, 6,000 pubs and countless ale lovers pulling together to celebrate all that is good about beer.

And it is with this support that the Great British pint has enjoyed a storming year with more drinkers than ever sampling beer and the number of breweries GROWING by 12 per cent.

National Cask Ale week 2010 called for ale fans to come out and support Britain’s national drink by introducing friends and family to their favourite tipple.

Also, did you know the number of female drinkers has doubled in the last year to 1.3 million*?

With 44% of women who actually taste cask ale going on to become regular or occasional drinkers, Cask Ale Week invited female drinkers to try a taste of real ale. Thursday 1st April was FemALE Day and pubs and breweries nationwide hosted a number of events in a bid to convert further FemALE drinkers to the joys of cask ale. Our own Enville Ale infused with specially selected honeys and Enville Ginger are already firm favourites with the ladies so come on girls, If you haven't already, give Enville a try. Enville were out on the town too...

Enville's Head Brewer Tony Garrington ...supporting 3 of our local customers by offering a series of MEET THE BREWER events during Cask Ale Week when our Head Brewer, Tony, was on hand to answer questions and talk ‘cask’ in the busy run up to Easter. Lots of folks came along to say hello, sample our ales and have their picture taken for our web site at one of these great venues:

Tuesday 30th March – The Robin Hood, 196 Collis Street, Amblecote, Stourbridge, DY8 4EQ;
where the first ever cask of Enville Ale was delivered in 1993 and Dave, Phil and the team welcomed drinkers to the first of three fun packed evenings. There was a fine selection of local cask ales including at least four from Enville Brewery, a free buffet, a chance to meet those nice chaps from Enville Ales along with their experienced Head Brewer and an opportunity to taste Dragons Den for the very first time this year.   (PHOTOS)

Wednesday 31st March – The Vine, 1, Dunsley Rd, Kinver, DY7 6LJ;
Where the Enville team were again watching in awe as our Head Brewer shared his incomparable knowledge of brewing and demonstrated his incontrovertible passion for checking the quality of our ales! The Vine is recently under new management and their enthusiastic new team, led by Jody, is really working hard to make this great canal-side location a real favourite for comfort, friendly hospitality, dining and finely kept local cask ale. If you fancy some supper we can thoroughly recommend their signature Fish and Chips (with Enville Ale Batter) or for a lighter bite why not try their tasty range of home made cobs?   (PHOTOS)

Thursday 1st April - The Hogshead, 186 Stafford Street, Wolverhampton, WV1 1NA;
where Jonathan and Greg are renowned for their fine cask ales in this busy, city-centre pub. There was a free buffet, a real festival selection of cask ales including three or four from Enville Brewery and another chance to get an early taste of this season’s Dragons Den. Our Head Brewer - who assures us that he can still manage three nights in a row! - was again on hand to talk with customers and discuss brewing techniques (and do yet more research sampling!). CAMRA card carrying members were also entitled to a 10% discount at the bar all night ensuring a goodturn out on the night!   (PHOTOS)

By the way 1st April was also FemALE day attracting a good number of ladies to celebrate their very own cask ale day sampling real ales and especially our 2009 LLAT (Ladies Like Ale Too) winner, Enville Ginger.

Please remember to drink responsibly and leave licensed premises quietly respecting others in the neighbourhood. Our tip, 'Always Take a Taxi', we will be.
