Brewery Tour for CAMRA Dudley & South Staffs and Stourbridge & Halesowen, Sept 4th 2010

A few pics from the CAMRA visit to Enville Brewery 4th Sept. 2010

including the presentation of our Award for Enville Ginger voted best ale at the Stourbridge Beer Festival 2010.

On a gloriously sunny Saturday 4th September 2010, Enville Brewery welcomed a coach full of CAMRA members from Dudley & South Staffs and Stourbridge & Halesowen branches to tour the brewery and sample some of our ales (Enville White, Enville Ginger, Phoenix IPA and Enville Ale). It was also the first chance to test some specially commissioned Enville Ales half-yard glasses engraved by local specialist Ian Dury owner of Stourbridge Glass Engravers, based at the Ruskin Glass Centre, Amblecote.

A combination of warm weather and great ale meant competition was fierce and with a little practise, sub-one minute times were being recorded for the 1.5 pint 'samples'. The ladies adopted a seated technique whilst the men found that leaning against the wall and rotating the glass helped to improve performance and stability whilst reducing the risk of a 'splash back'!

After the tour CAMRA's local publicity officer, Simon Hansen, presented Enville Ales with the coveted 'Beer of the Festival' 1st Place Award won outright at the Stourbridge Beer Festival earlier in the year by the increasingly popular Enville Ginger.

A good time was had by all and we offer our special thanks to Simon Hansen for his great pictures and Jill who provided mountainous trays of splendid home made crusty cheese and ham cobs alongside Kinver Butchery's scotch eggs and wonderful chilli and mint pork pies.

Please remember to drink responsibly and leave licensed premises quietly respecting others in the neighbourhood. Our tip, 'Always Take a Taxi', we will be.
